ABOUT ME

I am a Postdoctoral Prize Research Fellow at Nuffield College, University of Oxford. I work on topics related to the role of morality and social identity in political behaviour.

I hold a DPhil (PhD) in Politics from the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford, where I was also a member of Nuffield College and a Clarendon Scholar.

Before starting my DPhil I completed an MPhil in Politics (Comparative Government) also at the University of Oxford, and a BA in Politics at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.

My book project examines why some citizens tolerate undemocratic behaviour—such as corruption, repression, or autocratic power concentrations—while others uphold democratic commitments even under adverse conditions. It examines the role of morality and social identity in (un) democratic behaviour using qualitative, survey, and experimental data from cases in Europe and Latin America.

My other projects explore political participation, the effects of anticorruption cruzades, and interpretations of undemocratic behaviour.

I work with mixed methods, including focus groups, interviews, and experiments.
